  • 2017 / 2018 Property Tax Informational Letter

    Property tax bills for 2017/2018 were mailed on Wednesday 7/26. The following letter was included with the mailing. 

    Once again, the governing body has worked very hard on this year’s budget in an effort to keep the tax rate stable. Despite the economic climate and budgetary challenges, we have been able to accomplish this without any impact on services by careful management of the Town’s income and expenses. In preparing the budget, the Chief Financial Officer and Town Finance Committee conducted a line-by-line review to ensure that every revenue source pays its proper share and each municipal department allocates its resources wisely. Once again, there will be no increase in overall taxes. Although the school tax rate is increasing, the 2017 Municipal Budget will absorb this increase.

  • Juveniles From France Commit A Dozen Vehicle Burglaries

    On Friday, July 21, 2017, numerous vehicle burglaries were reported to the Secaucus Police Department. In total, twelve (12) vehicles were reported to have been burglarized after 4:00 am in the area if Second Street. During the initial police response, patrol and detective division personnel worked collaboratively to process each vehicle for evidence and conduct a canvass of the area. As a result, surveillance footage was obtained from several locations that captured the group of, what appeared to be juveniles, committing the burglaries.

Sustainable Jersey® Certification is a prestigious designation for municipal governments in New Jersey. Municipalities that achieve certification are considered by their peers, by state government and by the experts and civic organizations in New Jersey, to be among the leading environmental municipalities in the state. Certification is a rigorous process and once certified, Sustainable Jersey® towns have access to incentives and grants; training and guidance towards the development of a sustainable community; and are promoted on the Sustainable Jersey® website as a town that is doing its part for the environment. 

Secaucus has met the rigorous requirements to achieve Sustainable Jersey® certification. Of the 566 registered municipalities in New Jersey, Secaucus is one of 28 towns out of 428 participating municipalities that have attained Silver Certification. By becoming a Sustainable Jersey® certified town, Secaucus reinforces our commitment to saving resources, the environment and the planet. At this time, Silver Certification is the highest level of certification awarded by Sustainable Jersey®.

Sustainable Jersey® is a nonprofit organization that provides tools, training and financial incentives to support communities as they pursue sustainability programs. By supporting community efforts to reduce waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the local environmental, Sustainable Jersey® empowers communities to build a better world for future generations.
