  • 2017 Municipal Budget Introduction

    On March 28, 2017, the Mayor and Town Council introduced the Municipal Budget for 2017. Mayor Gonnelli stated, “I am pleased to report that, once again, the 2017 Municipal Budget reflects no municipal tax increase. While both the school and County will likely have tax increases, we have struck a budget that will absorb them. Therefore, for the second year in a row, overall taxes will remain flat. I would venture to guess there are very few, if any, municipalities in the state that have seen their taxes remain flat and had the municipal portion of the budget absorb tax increases from other governmental agencies.”

Sustainable Jersey® Certification is a prestigious designation for municipal governments in New Jersey. Municipalities that achieve certification are considered by their peers, by state government and by the experts and civic organizations in New Jersey, to be among the leading environmental municipalities in the state. Certification is a rigorous process and once certified, Sustainable Jersey® towns have access to incentives and grants; training and guidance towards the development of a sustainable community; and are promoted on the Sustainable Jersey® website as a town that is doing its part for the environment. 

Secaucus has met the rigorous requirements to achieve Sustainable Jersey® certification. Of the 566 registered municipalities in New Jersey, Secaucus is one of 28 towns out of 428 participating municipalities that have attained Silver Certification. By becoming a Sustainable Jersey® certified town, Secaucus reinforces our commitment to saving resources, the environment and the planet. At this time, Silver Certification is the highest level of certification awarded by Sustainable Jersey®.

Sustainable Jersey® is a nonprofit organization that provides tools, training and financial incentives to support communities as they pursue sustainability programs. By supporting community efforts to reduce waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and improve the local environmental, Sustainable Jersey® empowers communities to build a better world for future generations.
