On Friday, July 21, 2017, numerous vehicle burglaries were reported to the Secaucus Police Department. In total, twelve (12) vehicles were reported to have been burglarized after 4:00 am in the area if Second Street. During the initial police response, patrol and detective division personnel worked collaboratively to process each vehicle for evidence and conduct a canvass of the area. As a result, surveillance footage was obtained from several locations that captured the group of, what appeared to be juveniles, committing the burglaries.

 

On July 22, 2017, shortly after 3:00 am, Police Officer Michael Bronowich was intensely patrolling the area plagued with vehicle burglaries the night before. Near Pandolfi and Golden Avenues, he observed what appeared to be a large group of juveniles, walking between cars utilizing flashlights. Police Officer Michael Bronowich discovered that several of the juveniles appeared to fit the profile from the surveillance footage. Nine (9) juveniles, both male and female, ranging in age from 13-17, were taken into custody. A 15-year-old female juvenile was later taken into custody at the Red Roof Inn for her role in the burglaries. Some of the juveniles were wearing the same clothing they had on the night before while committing the burglaries.
