SUMMARY:  Under direction performs various tasks including observing park and playground rules and regulations are being followed and assorted other duties including, but not limited to play equipment, play areas, and locker room facilities, along with other town owned property.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Open and close park
  • Periodic check of park area
  • Monitor activities within park area
  • Notify police in the event of any situations and or emergencies.

  • High School diploma required or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, in person, in stressful or emergency situations.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal or no supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of the routine procedures used in cleaning and maintaining fields, parks, and park equipment.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral directions; to learn quickly from oral explanations and from demonstrations; to work harmoniously with others; to see that park equipment is not misused, damaged, or stolen and to perform routine manual operations.
  • Must have a valid New Jersey driver’s license free from motor vehicle convictions for the last three (3) years.
  • Applicants should be prepared to work a shift schedule which may involve evenings/nights and / or weekends.
