The Town of Secaucus is seeking resident high school / college students for various part time summer positions.   Applications are being accepted starting March 30, 2016, until the deadline of May 15, 2016 at 4:00 pm.

Summer Jobs Available:

Swim Club:

Assistant Manager 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in related area.
  • Oversee staff. 
  • Reports to director. 
  • Creates schedule for clerical. 
  • Open and closes, takes care of money. 
  • Works closely with the head lifeguard. 
  • Communicate effectively with the public and staff 

Head Lifeguard

  • Applicants must  be 16 years old by May 28, 2016 or older
  • Must have lifeguard training, certified in CPR/AED, and First Aid training. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience. 
  • Represent the Secaucus swim club by maintaining a professional attitude including arriving on time, wearing proper attire. 
  • Supervise Lifeguards. 
  • Create schedule, on call when recreation center is open, finds coverage. 
  • Communicate effectively with the public and staff 
  • Enforce water safety standards and pool regulation 
  • Remain vigilant and act quickly during emergencies  

Lifeguards

  • Applicants must  be 15 years old by May 28, 2016 or older
  • Must have lifeguard training, certified in CPR/AED, and First Aid Training. 
  • Represent the Secaucus swim club by maintaining a professional attitude including arriving on time, wearing proper attire. 
  • Maintain the safety of patrons in an around the pool.
  • Perform rescues in the event of drowning or swimming accidents. 
  • Walking and sitting post. 
  • Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain to ensure that the grounds are clean. 

Clerical 

  • Applicants must be 15 years old by May 28, 2016 or older.
  • Represent the Secaucus swim club by maintaining a professional attitude including arriving on time, wearing proper attire
  • Operates a cash register, collects fees, and issues stamps. 
  • Provides information to the public regarding events, admission price and hours of operation. 
  • Checks for proper identification and pool passes. . 
  • Checks backpacks, beach bags, and cooler for alcohol and any glass bottles. 
  • Rotates to each assigned post. 
  • Sell merchandise and reserve cabanas. 
  • Surveillance of the wading pool. 
  • Inspecting the grounds to ensure that they are clean.  

Pool Maintenance workers

  • Applicants must be 16 years old by May 28, 2016 or older.
  • Maintains pool chemistry and circulation at proper levels. 
  • Perform pool checks to ensure safety and hygiene as well as Keep accurate records of pool use and chemical levels. 
  • Start up and closing of all pools. 
  • Take inventory. 
  • General janitorial responsibilities for showers, lockers, and the garbage around the ground, clean under the pavilion.
  • Back wash of the pools. 
  • Inspecting the grounds to ensure that they are clean.
