Mayor Gonnelli's Message - 5-15-2020

We have good news on the COVID-19 front. The State reports that the numbers of positive cases are slowing, and hospitalizations are consistently going down. Under Governor Murphy’s directions, more restrictions are being eased.

Executive Order #142 allows the resumption of non-essential construction, curbside pick-up at non-essential retail businesses and gatherings in cars. Furthermore, Executive Order #143 allows beaches, boardwalks, lakes and lakeshores to remain open with social distancing measures still in place. The full content of the Executive Orders can be viewed on our website.

In line with these new guidelines, the Town Council and I are happy to announce that all tennis courts in Town will be re-opened today. Only singles play will be permitted, and social distancing rules must be followed. Let’s be responsible and do our part so the restrictions can continue to be eased in the days and weeks to come.

While we inch back to normal, I would like to remind all residents to complete the Census. Your answers are crucial in how federal, state and county funds are distributed to towns such as ours. It takes just a few minutes and it’s easy. Log on to www.2020census.gov or call 844-330-2020 to complete the census today.

Please do your part to stem the spread of the coronavirus. Continue to check our website www.secaucusnj.gov/virus for the latest updates.

Stay vigilant and be safe.

Mayor Michael Gonnelli
