Mayor Gonnelli Message - 3-16-20

The Coronavirus pandemic has created great uncertainty and concern for our residents, business community and employees. The Council and I are working closely with staff and our health professionals to continuously assess this everchanging situation and take all the steps reasonably necessary to protect the public.

I would encourage all residents to visit our website at www.secaucusnj.gov/virus. This page deals only with the Coronavirus. The web page, which will be updated daily by 8:00 p.m., provides updated information from the CDC on the virus and address the status of our facilities and programs. I want to ensure all information concerning the Town comes out of one source so there is no mix-messaging. Please visit our website daily.

Despite some rumors to the contrary, there are currently no confirmed COVID-19 cases in Secaucus. You have my word that I will keep the public closely informed in the event we have any confirmed cases.  Now that increased testing will be available, it is likely some cases may be confirmed. Should we receive a confirmation, it will not be a cause for panic. We have put many safety measures in place, which will remain for as long as are needed. I will also continue to consult with our local and state health officials for guidance and will continue to institute reasonable policies.

Secaucus is a strong and resilient town. It is in difficult times like this where we need to pull together and continue to help one another out. Working together we will get through this. Rest assured that the primary goal of my administration will be your safety and well-being.

Please remain vigilant and stay safe.

Mayor Michael J. Gonnelli
