The Engineering and District Zoning Department handles all general engineering services and street opening applications for the Town of Secaucus. The department also reviews and issues Zoning Certificates and Certificates of Continued Occupancy for properties within the NJSEA District in the Town of Secaucus.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING THE SUBMISSION OF NJSEA APPLICATIONS:  The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) is accepting land use/zoning and construction code plan review applications by electronic submission to plans@njsea.com in order to expedite the placement of applications into the queue for review.

NJSEA will forward your application package to the Secaucus Engineering Department via email directly to the Town Engineer for review. The designated contact person on the application will be notified at the same time. The Secaucus Engineering Department will then begin the zoning review and reach out to the designated contact person with comments, zoning review fees, etc.

Zoning for Properties in Secaucus located within the Hackensack Meadowlands District:

***Please note that ALL applications for properties in Secaucus located within the Hackensack Meadowlands District, which are subject to the rules of the NJSEA, are required to be directly submitted to the NJSEA Office. NJSEA will forward your zoning certificate application to the Town of Secaucus for our review in accordance with NJSEA Resolution 2015-54 DO NOT submit applications directly to the Town of Secaucus.

Street Opening Application

1. As of June 1, 2016, the Engineering Department will no longer accept fax or paper submissions of street opening permit applications.

2. Fill out the: 2024 Street Opening Permit

3. Email the application (1st page only) and drawings to SOP@secaucus.net. The email subject line shall include the location of the street opening. 

All checks and deposits shall be dropped off or mailed to the Engineering Department at:
