Mayor Gonnelli Message - 3-22-20

I am so proud of the way our community is working together to deal with the crisis COVID-19 has brought upon us. I see residents and our business community looking out for each other and people contact me constantly asking if they can help in any way. It is heartwarming to see how we are pulling together in the wake of ever tightening restrictions.

Our employees are also pulling together to keep our operations functioning within the work limitations required under Gov. Murphy’s Executive Order. While this has been a challenge, the Council and I, along with the staff, have worked tirelessly to put all the systems in place to keep the municipal government working to the highest level possible. We simply ask for your patience if we are unable to respond to some requests as quickly as is normal.

I have been working closely with all Hudson County elected officials, OEM, health experts and many others to help combat the COVID-19 virus. As part of this cooperative effort, beginning on Monday, March 23^rd, Hudson Regional Hospital will have a drive-through testing operation in place to serve the residents of Hudson County. The testing is being done strictly BY APPOINTMENT ONLY and the process for securing an appointment can be found on our website www.secaucusnj.gov/virus. Please see the update entitled 3-22-2020 Update – Hudson County COVID-19 Testing Center on the site for the specific requirements. Our police department has worked closely with all law enforcement in the County as well as Hudson Regional Hospital to ensure the safety and efficiency of the testing facility. All testing will be done on a drive-through basis and will not create a risk of increased exposure to our residents.

Lastly, please keep checking our website www.secaucusnj.gov/virus for continued updates, including the number of confirmed cases in the Town of Secaucus. The website is updated as we are provided with details from our Health Office.
